Realased on May 22, Google's latest animal named update, Penguin 2.0, targets "web spam" by blackhat marketers. These are essentially considered "junk" links with no purpose other than to impact Google's ranking of a website. Christopher Ulrich, CEO of
Long Island advertising agency Direct Response Group, explains: "As Google as repeatedly indicated, user experience should be the focus of the website owner. You should not be designing pages simply to rank well in Google. Google wants to reward websites that deliver high value to their users - and it rewards these sites with higher ranks." He continues, "Google has no interest in listing a site higher in the search results simply because a webmaster or SEO engaged in blackhat techniques designed to influence rankings on Google."
In this
free SEO white paper available at Direct Response Group's site, website owners and marketers will receive information explaining what types of activity to strive for, what to avoid, and how to recover if you have been penalized by Penguin 2.0.
"Google's Penguin 2.0 and other mechanisms strive to deliver the best user experience, ensuring that Google's users remain loyal. Understand Google's motivations and play by their rules, and you will drastically increase your chance of success," Mr. Ulrich recommends.
