A new survey from The Plain Dealer and WorkplaceDynamics puts Fathom Online Marketing in an elite group of 123 “Top Workplaces” in Northeast Ohio. The Cleveland-area company was ranked #8 in a field of 60 finalists for small companies.

Cleveland, OH June 23, 2011 -- Companies measure success in many ways: balance sheets, yearly growth, customer satisfaction. Few indicators are as powerful as those that come from the people within, and the members of Fathom Online Marketing have spoken. The results were published June 19 in an employee-based survey that named Fathom one of 123 companies in the “Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces 2011.” The survey, conducted by The Plain Dealer (Cleveland) and WorkplaceDynamics, ranked Fathom #8 in a field of 60 small companies (defined as those with 50-149 local employees).

Proving the old adage that “a company is only as good as its employees,” the survey consisted of employee feedback about company direction, job meaningfulness, career/growth opportunities, and communication with management. Participants volunteered answers to questions on a seven-point scale from “strong agreement” to “strong disagreement” with themes such as:

  • “I am confident about my future at this company.”
  • “I feel genuinely appreciated at this company.”
  • “I have confidence in the leader of this company.”

“I want to congratulate and thank everyone at Fathom!” said Scot Lowry, CEO. “It's the day-to-day actions of our people that make this phenomenal culture what it is. We are proud of it, and I appreciate the feedback given in the survey. I'm committed to building on the great foundation we have in the future.” Elizabeth Lynch, Director of Leadership Development, added: “It is really an honor to win, because our employees are the judges.”

The survey’s methodology was explained in The Plain Dealer: Initially, more than 1,000 eligible companies, nonprofits and government agencies across 11 counties were asked to participate by either WorkplaceDynamics or the public. Contributions depended on the employers, and 235 of them ultimately volunteered their employees to take part in the survey (46,465 respondents in total). To arrive at the finalists, WorkPlace Dynamics eventually whittled the 235 companies down to 132 based on the most positive results.

This newest external validation of Fathom’s success comes on the heels of 2 other honors granted earlier this year. The company made Advertising Age’s list of the 25 largest search-marketing agencies for the 5th consecutive year, landing at #24. Additionally, it also scored a #3 ranking on Website Magazine’s Top 50 SEO Agencies, where rankings are based on website popularity in terms of average daily unique visits and page views over a specified period of time.
