Although many articles have been written about finding the best keywords for SEO, many webmasters still target the wrong keywords.

Choosing the right keywords is a crucial step in every search engine optimization campaign. If you choose the wrong keywords, all other web site promotion activities are pointless.

Before you start to promote your web site, take some time to find the right keywords. It's worthwhile.

Having greatly benefited from my relationship with Google in the past several years, I am dedicating this article to the search engine superstar.

I have to be brutally honest and relay that our friendship hasn't always been rosy. I got to know Google several years back, when it was just a small fish in a big pond. I started to analyze its every move and realized that Google is a fickle, clever and extremely mysterious being. Still, I decided to get more acquainted.

Balancing Between Search Engine Marketing and Technical Needs

Achieving the right mix of search engine marketing brilliance and technical savvy for a website can be a challenge.

A recent forum I encountered on 301 redirects brought this issue clearly into focus. I came away with the distinct impression that there were two types of search engine marketing experts in that forum - 'techies' and 'marketers' - each with their own very valid opinions. The 'techies' saw the 301 as a perfect solution to remove pages from a site but retain their value from a search engine ranking perspective and ensure that existing links and bookmarks were directed to the corresponding new page on the site. The 'marketers' appeared to focus on the sales process and the value of the new pages to visitors and preferred to let the search engines find the new pages 'naturally' to avoid the work involved with setting up 301s. It can take a fair amount of time to set up 301s if hundreds of pages are involved.

GenUX Opens the World to Gentoo Linux

LOS ANGELES, CA - August 8, 2005 -- GenUX (http://www.genux.org) is making it easier than ever for all users to download and install one of the most popular Linux distributions with the release of a free Gentoo Linux Installer and a new Compiled Binary Packages Service for Gentoo Linux.

Historically, Gentoo Linux has been one of the most stable and popular Linux distributions for power Linux users, due to its unique nature: instead of installing applications in their binary form, Gentoo Linux users compile the components of the operating system from the original source code. The end result was a Linux distribution perfectly matched to the machine's and its user's needs. But, the trade-off was not what every computer user would have the time and the technical expertise to carry out such an installation.

Phishing

Recently I have received email from my bank/credit Card Company, eBay & pay pal saying that my account has possibly been compromised and I need to confirm my details and password in order to get continued access.

Spam email now has a new and more frightening variant, it's called phishing and it has been made by criminals and hackers who aim at getting unwitting consumers to reveal account numbers and passwords.

Usually after getting an email like the ones mentioned above from reputable companies, most of us would race to respond as quickly as possible. However, in most cases you will find that you won't be helping anyone other then the criminal who wrote that email and who has nothing to do with the actual organizations.

The Future of RSS is Not Blogs

Blogs vaulted RSS into the limelight but are unlikely to be the force that sustains RSS as a communication medium. The biggest opportunities for RSS are not in the blogosphere but as a corporate communication channel.

Even now, businesses that were initially reluctantly evaluating RSS are beginning to realize the power and benefit of the RSS information avenue. The inherent capacity for consumers to select the content they wish to receive will be the driving mechanism for keeping advertisements to a minimum and content quality consistent.

Finding The Right Organic SEO Keywords

When it comes to search engine marketing, the best place for an organic keyword listing to be is above the fold on the first page of search results. This does not mean that there is no value in being on page 1 below the fold, or on page 2 of the results - it simply means that fewer searchers will see you. Due to the heavy competition for organic listings that are above the fold on page 1, and the methods used by search engines to place listings, successful SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for content-rich can take anywhere from several months to over a year to achieve.

SEO is a serious, time intensive and ongoing expense. Choosing the right keywords with which to optimize a site is a critical factor in the success of any SEO campaign.

PC Maintenance and Improving Performance

Once you bring your personal computer home from the store or receive it in the mail there is no one around to offer basic personal computer maintenance tips for cleaning up and improving performance of your computer. Maintenance and cleaning up of your PC should be part of a regular routine to ensure that you don't have any long-term problems with the computer. Unfortunately most basic computer users may not understand the mechanics of a computer or may feel intimidated with the maintenance. There are really simple steps anyone can take to ensure that your computer will continue working at the level it did when you first pulled it out of the box.

One of the first files to become acquainted with on your computer is the System Tools, located under the Start Menu, then Programs, and Accessories. The System Tools houses basic maintenance tools like Disk Defragmenter, Disk Cleanup, Backup, Scheduled Tasks, and System Information and ScanDisk on some Microsoft Windows computers. Strange that these files are located in Accessories because they really are the key to keeping your system running correctly and helping to improve performance as the computer ages.

Protecting Your Online Content

Over the years, I've done a significant amount of writing online and been dismayed to it has been stolen and put into other people's web sites without proper attribution. Even worse, I've discovered my designs in other people's portfolios and in one case, someone stole the entire content of my home page, "about" page (!), "services" page and a number of my copyrighted resources! Despite any cliches about that being flattery, this sort of thing is terribly upsetting - after all, for many of us in the service and intellectual property fields, what is between our ears and our talent is what keeps a roof over our heads. Finding out some jerk is profiting in any way from this theft can be downright infuriating!
